Narrative Learning Systems
We help organizations create value through the process of Narrative Learning. These workshops tap into one of the most common and powerful methods of learning - the story. Using a narrative structure in the learning process increases the ability to recall and apply new knowledge more creatively. Participants explore concepts, develop skills and build a story, or narrative, that guides them in their pursuit of meaningful personal growth and a greater effectiveness in their performance.
What is a Narrative?
Narratives are stories that are constructed and formed by selecting and connecting certain past experiences, knowledge, assumptions and beliefs within the current context to form a story about people, situations and things. These narratives guide and drive the daily behavior of individuals, groups and organizations.
The Process of Narrative Learning
Narrative Learning Systems workshops typically use a three-phase process:
- Exploration – Subjects, information and skills relevant to workshop goals are explored through dialogue, stories and activities.
- Development – Participants form a narrative by synthesizing what they have learned during phase one.
- Application – Activities provide the opportunity to test their narrative before they return to the workplace.
